This old pub has been rebuilt a couple of times. It was near the Arndale Centre when it was bombed.

Great pictures Babs. Manchester seems to be quite interesting now, haven't been there for a long time. Was watching something on TV that was filmed in Manchester when a tram went past, did a search and found that they had started a light rail system but the website was pleading for people to use it.

Nigel, I go to the ELR (East Lancs. Railway) site a lot, on the unofficial forum yhere is a topic about the Metro (Trams) service, or lack of, from reading that the system seems very prone to breakdowns or missing trams, a general shambles it all I have read about it is true.

I've only used the tram service once to get back into the city after a Bruce Springsteen Concert at Old Trafford Cricket ground. The trams were fine but there were too many people trying to cram into them.

Ours are a bit like that, limited seating, the only route at the moment is past an exhibition centre, when there is something on the trams are packed but at other times the half dozen or so passengers have a choice of seats. Ours does run to a high density residential area so they could be busy at rush hour, there are also plans to extend the system to cover the Sydney Central Business District but we also have an election soon so all sorts of promises are being made.

Incidentally we also have a Monorail running around the city.

Syd, is there more than one East Lancs Railway site? The only URL that I have is for the The unofficial ELRPS Members' Forum.
