Neil Diamond's Birthday

Postby NigelWaring » Sat Jan 23, 2010 9:44 pm

I'm sure that a couple of members here would be interested but they are probably well aware of the date anyway. I found the biography here: http://www.answers.com/topic/neil-diamond very interesting, he probably has as much influence as a songwriter as he does as a performer. Amazing that one person can have so much talent.

What is more amazing is that quite a lot of people have loads of talent! Seriously, Neil Diamond has written and recorded some very pop memorable tunes. I didn't know he wrote UB40's "Red, Red Wine"!

Shouldn't be frivolous on a subject like this but it did remind me of a Morcambe & Wise sketch.

Eric, about to sing said "this song always brings tears to my mother's eyes".

Ernie, "why, is it sad".

Eric, "No; she can't stand me".

Not that funny I suppose but it did get a big laugh twice a night for 17 weeks, the delivery counts.

Gave you my heart
Gave you my soul
You left me alone here
With nothing to hold
Yesterday's gone
Now all I want is a smile
